After many moons we return to beloved Cape Cod for in depth practice of the yogic arts. In this immersion we rejuvenate, align, and commune together. Join us for a delightful and illuminating two days of practice and sharing.
Friday, July 22 | 2:00 – 5:00PM – Awakening the Spine
The spine is a beautiful instrument. There are a total of seventy-two joints in the spinal column and the spine is capable of multiple small movements, yet as we age the spine typically becomes compressed, twisted, and displaced. In yoga we align the spine by alternately stretching and shortening the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that attach directly to the spine. In this class, we illuminate and enliven the spine through rocking, curling, extending, and lifting movements to generate optimal flow through the spine. In the mystical yoga tradition, the spine is given many names: the kundalini, the lustrous channel, the silent channel, the shaft of light. In this class learn to amplify the flow of the deep life force through your spinal column.
Friday, July 22 | 6:00 – 8:00pm – Supple Hips, Quiet Mind
Opening the hip joints requires care, finesse, and determination. Having open hips is key to longevity as it supports a vital flow of energy through the sacrum and spine. In this class we open the hips joints from multiple angles in order to bring fluidity to the body and ease and clarity to the mind.
Saturday, July 23 | 10:00am – 1:00pm – The Storehouse of Vitality in the Deep Belly
The lower abdomen is the center for not only balance and support in the body, but also for receptivity, prana, and feeling. In all the internal arts, the lower belly is the seat of vitality, that is the source of the body’s internal breath. In this practice, we tap into the vital reservoir of blood and chi in the lower abdomen, not only to maintain health in the uterus, bladder, and colon but to recharge the entire bioelectric field of the body.
Saturday, July 23 | 2:00 – 5:00pm – From Form to Formlessness in Yoga
The asanas are vehicles to cultivate and embody formlessness and spaciousness within the meditative experience. Like a Tibetan sand mandala, asana forms are constructed then dissolved. In this class, we construct the form of each asana with mindful care and precision in order to touch into the deeply healing and peaceful direct experience of open time and open space.
