In the winter season and toward year’s end we take time to rest deeply, reset the nervous system, and restore the body’s vital energy. In this yoga nidra practice, we focus specifically on the importance of releasing the cranial tissues and restoring the brain. In yoga nidra, we move from outer to inner, that is from the periphery to the core. We emphasize releasing the peripheral nerves in order to gather awareness into the brain and central nervous system.
The Winter Solstice is a pivotal time of the calendar year, marked with reverence by many ancient cultures including Stonehenge in the U.K and by the Anasazi people of the Southwest, at Chaco Canyon. Join us as we peer through the aperture of time to bear witness to the light on this shortest day of the year. The outer light on this day sparks open a truly magical connection to the light within. Through asana, meditation, poetry, song and verse we invoke a vast all-penetrating light.
Once you have felt the power of SATYA you will want to continue to soak in further. In SATYA 2, you will learn more complex sequencing, more nuanced variations of movement, and more about the physiological benefits. In-depth Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement (SATYA) practices compliment asana practice while deeply restoring the body. They open the joint spaces, build sensory-motor awareness, re-educate the neural-muscular system and help develop bi-lateral symmetry.
