Advanced SATYA Training

This immersion furthers the practice and study of SATYA, helping graduates of the program deepen their practice, teaching, and study of the work. In this week we build on the foundational forms and explore ways to combine movements into longer sequences of flow. We go further into SATYA as spatial medicine, to help change the tension in the connective tissue and open up the pathway of nadis. We cover the practice of nerve flossing, detailing the neuromuscular bundles that pass through the joint spaces, particularly in the hips and shoulders.  We cover how to integrate props into the SATYA practice. This includes using the wall for resistance, using small physio balls to apply pressure point therapy, straps for the limbs and doing SATYA in the chair for people who cannot go to the floor. In this training we explore new ways to help stretch and pump the fascia via facilitated manual release. Throughout the week we will address questions and concerns that have arisen in the practice and teaching of SATYA since the conclusion of SATYA 3.  This week provides a unique opportunity to be in a sangha of like-minded  practitioners in order to share, learn and further evolve the SATYA work.


Livestream Online

The in-person immersion (in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA) will be livestreamed.  You have the option to attend live via Zoom or watch the recordings on your schedule.

Course of Study:
  • Review manual myofascial release for the hips, shoulder and low back
  • Learn new techniques using the wall to release the myofascia
  • Learn new SATYA movement combinations
  • Learn the benefits of SATYA for “nerve flossing”
  • Learn ways to combine SATYA with pressure point release using a small physio-therapy ball
  • Learn how to guide SATYA movements in a chair
  • Learn how to address neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and MS
  • Practice new ways to practice SATYA with help of other props—rolled blanket, strap and bolster
  • Study the effects of SATYA on the endocrine system
  • How SATYA therapeutically benefits muscular-skeletal strain and dysfunction

 

**To be eligible for this Advanced SATYA training, students must have completed SATYA 1, 2 and 3

Cost:

**Advanced SATYA five-day immersion is good for 30-Hours of Continuing Education hours through Yoga Alliance, and can be applied towards required hours for the Prajna Yoga Therapy Track.

**Please note ALL Live Zoom sessions will be recorded should you be unable to attend any live streams. All course materials are available indefinitely.

**Have your props handy! We recommend two blocks, blankets, a thick bolster, an 8’ or 10’ belt/strap, and a backless chair (modifications will be given if you do not have a chair). We recommend yogaoutlet.com and Manduka for props; backless chairs can be found on Amazon and Etsy.
