The chakras evoke mystery, an artistic imagination and connection to the subtle body. For each of us, the chakras are energy centers full of feeling and connection. In this course you will identify the chakra that is strongest for you and the one that is most vulnerable. Discover the energetic character of each chakra from your tailbone and leading to the crown of your head. Learn the energetic and emotional vitality that pertains to each vital energy center. You will learn the muscular-skeletal, organic and neurological association with each chakra. Learn how the five elements of yoga (earth, water, fire, air and space) and the yogic “winds” pertain to each energy center. Discover how the dynamic force of the reptilian power of kundalini passes through the spine.
Tias includes an array of colorful images from the yogic tradition that show the energetic character of each chakra. In daily practice, we activate each of the vital energy channels through asana, sound resonance, visualization and meditation. Tias brings his background in Sanskrit, yoga philosophy, Indian Art and mystical anatomy and classical yoga to this unique course on the chakras.

The first day covers the first two chakras, while focusing on the sacrum and pelvis. We practice hip openers relative to mula bandha and contact the cranial-sacral system relative to the energetics of the body’s deep life force the kundalini.
The abdomen, the third chakra, is the hearth of the body. This class covers uddiyana bandha, the digestive center and the reserve of power stored in the kidneys.
The heart chakra is the mediator and synthesizer of all the other chakras. This day focuses on the heart and lung within the heart chakra. We practice asana to expand the chest and pranayama to open the ribs and lungs.
In the chakra system the throat is the critical juncture leading up into the cranium. Food, the breath and major arteries pass through the throat. This day covers the delicate cervical structures relating to the throat chakra and we practice bridge poses and shoulderstand.
In this day we look at the mystical centers in the skull relating to the brain, the sensory organs and the deep consciousness. This day investigates the cranial sutures, the cranial-sacral system and the “master” pituitary gland.
