Rolling Into the New Year: January 2025 6-Class Online Series

We start the year on a roll. This month each class begins using a foam roller or physio-ball to loosen the fascia and free up adhesions. Following the pressure point release work, we practice somatic movements and yoga postures to align and strengthen the muscles, joints and connective tissue.

Friday, January 10 | The Feet and Lower Limb

We begin this monthly series by stimulating the pressure points on the sole of the foot. From the knee, down we loosen the calf muscles and lateral shin in order to improve balance and bring lightness to our step.

 

Tuesday, January 14 | The Upper Leg

In this class we stimulate the connective tissue of the hamstring, iliotibial band, and quadriceps in order to encourage a free flow of kinetic energy up into the hips. We follow the connective tissue release with standing poses to build strength in the bones, ligaments, and joint capsules.

 

Friday, January 17 | The Hip Joint

Spend time slowly releasing compacted tissue around your hips. In this class we free up adhesions all around the hip before doing a long series of hip openers.

 

Tuesday, January 21 | The Sacrum and Lower Back

Practice releasing the strong tissues in and around your low back. This can be invaluable for staying out of back pain. First we free up the lower paraspinal muscles before strengthening the lower back in movement practice.

 

Friday, January 24 | The Shoulders and Upper Back

Stimulate the pressure points between your shoulder blades and all around your shoulder joint. This serves to improve kinesthetic flow down into your arms and hands. In this class, all postures and somatic movements increase ROM in the shoulder girdle while strengthening and aligning the upper arms and shoulders.

 

Tuesday, January 28 | The Neck and Cranial Base

Begin releasing the pressure points along your upper shoulder, at the base of your neck, and below your back skull. These points benefit eye strain, jaw tension, fatigue, and headaches.

  • Have your props handy! We recommend two blocks, blankets, a thick bolster, an 8’ or 10’ belt/strap, and a backless chair (modifications will be given if you do not have a chair). We recommend yogaoutlet.com and Manduka for props; backless chairs can be found on Amazon and Etsy.
