The Liminal Space Between Waking and Dreaming with Yoga Nidra
In the world of yoga nidra, the boundary between wakefulness and dreams dissolves as a realm of profound self-discovery and relaxation unfolds. This cathartic practice works to gently guide us into the liminal space while offering a holistic approach to cleanse the body and mind.
The “In-Between” Space
The core of yoga nidra is the liminal space, otherwise known as an in-between area. This delicate threshold is the tension we feel between wakefulness and sleep. It’s in this space where our central nervous system, breathing, organs, and glands take turns bathing in a revitalizing embrace. The result is a deep sense of soul nourishment that goes well beyond the physical as it reaches into the core of our personhood and being.
Layers of the Psyche
While there are overlaps between meditation and yoga nidra, there are key differences. With yoga nidra, you move into a deepened state of conscious awareness sleep, which brings a deeper state of relaxation with awareness. In these classes, we invite you to explore your dream body – a blank canvas where insights, images, visions, and emotions can gracefully appear. It’s not just a class; this is a personal expedition into the deepest portions of your consciousness. As you dive into the ancient practice, you’ll see the profound interconnection between consciousness and dreams.
An Invitation to Transformation
And this isn’t just about yoga; it’s a personal adventure into self-discovery and restoration. The yoga nidra works well for many as it regulates the processes in the body that take place without a conscious effort such as your heartbeat, breathing, digestion, and blood flow. By aligning your body, mind, and soul together through breathwork and intentionality, the space between reality and dreams blur, allowing you to tap into limitless possibilities.
Are you ready to step into your own transformative journey? Join our guided yoga nidra classes as we unlock the secrets of the liminal space. Your journey to profound relaxation and self-discovery begins now.

At the beginning of each class, we begin by unwinding strain and tension from the fascia. Each practice provides a rejuvenating tonic for the body. When moving into yogic sleep, Tias will guide ways to enter the dream-like state of yoga nidra. Akin to lucid dreaming, you will be invited to observe the images, thoughts, and memories that arise in the suspended state between waking and sleeping. Yogis have long known that the bardo-like state between waking and dreaming is a fertile place, one where images, memories or insights can penetrate the veil of everyday consciousness. Following each session, you are encouraged to journal your reflections and to sit further with any content that may surface during the yoga nidra session. Throughout this course, students are encouraged to keep a dream journal. In each class Tias will provide instruction as to how to use dream images as medicine to heal the subtle body.
