Tias and Surya
As the summer sun reaches its zenith and Summer Solstice approaches, we bring dynamic solar flow into our practice. This immersion includes the hallmarks of a Prajna Yoga experience—meditation, SATYA, asana, pranayama and sangha sharing of the richness of the yoga teachings. In this retreat we embody the wisdom teachings, not as an isolated event, but within the presence of a community of practitioners devoted to the path of awakening.
Upcoming dates: June 17 – 20, 2023
August in New Mexico is a most beautiful and auspicious time of year as storm clouds gather over the summer skies. When rains bless the desert there is a magical, enchanting quality to the atmosphere. In this immersion we explore the internal fluids that are the lifeblood of the cells and tissues. Through somatic movement practices, yoga and meditation we will tap into the fluids that have their own intelligence and consciousness. We trace the pathway of blood beginning in the large arteries and veins down to the feather fine diffusion of fluids through the capillaries. In the yoga system we explore the pathway of prana through the nadis and in the Taoist teachings, the way water is the quintessential expression of the life essence. All practices support optimal vitality, meditative stillness and the deep calm.

Whether teaching classes online or live in person, careful and intelligent sequencing is essential to every yoga class. Without proper sequencing a class can leave the student ungrounded or imbalanced. Like a good chef who knows how to skillfully combine ingredients, the mindful yoga teacher blends poses to create a feeling of integrity and wholeness. In this course Tias and Surya share their combined 50 years of study, practice and teaching to help teachers design classes that are dynamic, playful, creative and enlightening.
Knowing how to use your hands to adjust and guide students is an essential skill for any class setting or private instruction. This course helps you to develop a discriminating eye and skillful touch when directing students toward greater opening. Because the body compensates with pulls, rotations, shifts and torques, it is important to sense the body’s asymmetries and strain patterns under your hands. In SATYA movements and yoga postures, you will learn to manually rotate, stretch, compress and guide the soft tissues toward greater release.
