Nerve Flossing | June Online 6-Class Series

June 3 - June 27

REGISTER HERE

In this month we reduce compression on the nerve channels through “nerve flossing.” Also known as neural gliding, this practice helps loosen the fascia, reduce numbness and stiffness, and increase neural flow through the connective tissues. Due to injury, strain, or impingement, nerves can get stuck, pasted down, and become inflamed. In each class, we pump, stretch, and “tease” the fascia to facilitate neural glide and improve ROM.

* All classes are held from 10:00 – 11:30am Mountain Time*

*Want to register for individual classes? Click here.*

Tuesday, June 3 | Knee and Foot Floss

The nerve plexus in the foot and knee is vulnerable to compression and stagnation. In this class we press, pump, and squeegee the tissues around the knee, ankle and foot. This helps reduce varicose veins in the leg and neuropathy in the foot.

Friday, June 6 | Flossing the Hamstring/Sciatic Nerve

Because the sciatic nerve is woven into the hamstring, it is essential to pump, squeeze, stretch, and shorten the hamstring tissue to facilitate neural flow into the leg and foot. In this class we stretch, shorten, squeeze, pump, and “floss” the hamstring fibers.

Tuesday, June 10 | Inside Leg Flossing

In this class we alternately stretch and shorten the strong connective tissue of the inside leg to encourage more glide in the femoral and obturator nerves. We use supine, side lying, prone, and standing positions.

Tuesday, June 17 | Hip Joint Floss

The sciatic nerve passes through the mid buttock and is a common area for nerve impingement. Because the sciatic nerve tunnels through the pelvis, it is essential to “floss’” the strong, strapping gluteus muscles. In this class we pump, rock, and tease constriction out of the buttock region.

Tuesday, June 24 | Flossing the Horse’s Tail

The horse’s tail (cauda equina) is located at the lumbar end of the spinal cord. It has many strands or hairs that pass from spine to sacrum. In this class we do pumping , rocking, and flossing movements to generate flow in the lower back and reduce pain and compression in the horse’s tail.

Friday, June 27 | Brachial Nerve Plexus Flossing

The nerve plexus in the shoulder is easily compressed due to repetitive strain, trauma, or too much time on the keyboard. In this class, we facilitate glide in the nerve bundle at the shoulder joint and under the collar bone.

  • Have your props handy! We recommend two blocks, blankets, a thick bolster, an 8’ or 10’ belt/strap, and a backless chair (modifications will be given if you do not have a chair). We recommend yogaoutlet.com and Manduka for props; backless chairs can be found on Amazon and Etsy.
  • Please note that all classes are in Mountain Time.
  • Can’t join us at 10am MT because of your schedule or time zone? We’ve got you covered! Reserve your seat and all video recordings will be uploaded to your course curriculum to watch when you can, available to stream for 30 days.
